There’s nothing that we can do to earn the love of God. John 3:16 in The Bible, states that God gave up His only son for all of our sin. Hence a Saviour was sent into the world, to save us from the penalty of sin and to also to give us the gift of eternal life, through belief in and acceptance of The Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.
It blows my mind to think that all we have to do is repent of our sin, confess our belief in Jesus Christ and just like that, we are forgiven for our sin for all time and then we get to spend eternity with Jesus in heaven forever, with all the people who also put all their trust and faith in Jesus, while on earth.
Life is chaotic, things are always changing, life can get overwhelming and downright exhausting, we change over time also, but God; Jesus He never changes for as it is also written in The Bible, in Hebrews 13:8 Â Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
I don’t know about you, but I find that scripture such a relief to know that God never changes. I feel like I change here and there over time, but Jesus is constant, stable and the same forevermore. I love that. What an awesome God we serve.
Sometimes as a Christian I think that it’s easy to get caught up in the works that we do for The Lord. I used to do some works, thinking to myself I hope God sees me doing this, so that He’ll love me and show favour upon me. These days instead of doing works in exchange for God’s love, somewhere along the lines, I had that realisation, that I can’t earn God’s love, because He already loved me; He already loves me. I guess its common to fall into this way of thinking, when you grow up working hard at school, or your job, hoping that someone sees how hard you are working and then somehow be recognised and rewarded for all your hard work. The thing is God already sees you. He knows everything about you, because He created you. It’s not about earning, or striving, it’s about being still and remembering how much Jesus already loves you. It’s about having a personal relationship with Jesus daily. People often look at me strange, when I tell them, that all that Jesus truly wants for you is your heart, your honesty about how you are living your life for Him, or are you living your life purely to feel good from your flesh indulgences in your flesh desires? Only you can truthfully answer those question and you can try not tell Jesus the truth, but He already knows all that is in your heart and in your mind. He just wants you to not only be honest with Him, but also with yourself. So that when you discover what your sin is and how you have been reacting to what has been done, you can ask Jesus to cut it out of you and fill you with God’s holiness and truth. May you overflow with such rich and abundant blessing, that you then become a blessing to another person.
