A few days ago as I let out my cat unto the patio and to her favorite shrub-covered hiding place as she is leashed -trained,  I noticed droplets of dew or recent fallen raindrops on the shrubbery. Also, my mind flashed back to the many times my family enjoyed camping in the British Columbia hot springs resorts and being surrounded by the beauty of the mountains.  We had a tent trailer and many mornings there would be dew on the tent so we invested in a huge plastic sheet to throw over the tent trailer and canopy.   We also had to be aware of nature and the animals that may roam into the campsites. Dew refers to the small droplets of water that form on cool surfaces, like grass or leaves, overnight. It is created through condensation, which happens when warm, moist air cools down as it touches these surfaces, turning atmospheric water vapor into liquid water. [1, 2].  What does ” DEW OF HEAVEN mean?  Taken from “BIBLICAL HERMENEUTICS” it says and I am paraphrasing, ‘it symbolizes God’s Grace. unmerited favor and spiritual refreshment”.  On the other hand, “it represents the silent, gentle, and essential provisions God sends to sustain life and foster spiritual growth”.

How often in our “desert experiences”  we become dry like dry pots that will crack easily under pressure from strained  and broken  relationships and other life changing situations. ( I have experienced that in my own family).  Or when a job was promised to last a month and plans made for that, then to find out it was only for two weeks. We gave two months rent notice and headed to a northern Ontario community. We headed  back home after my episode if a “desert experience”. I railed and ranted.  Hung my head wondering if the church family we had left would welcome us back.  The “Dew of Heaven” settled once more as we attended church that first Sunday back and confessed.  God granted the Dew from Heaven to fall graciously on me and restored my faith once more. God gently and silently touched me with His provisions of grace and mercy once more and fostered spiritual growth from there on in.  May the Dew of Heaven fall on your lives today as we find our way out of the desert to the pasture of His goodness, mercy and grace.
