A few weeks ago I experienced  what the woman must have felt like in the parable of the Lost Coin found in Luke 15 : 8 – 10.

I had misplaced my wallet.  I felt anxious, upset, and stressed out over it all. I “swept” my apartment physically with my eyes, searching.  I pulled out drawers and rummaged through my belongings.  Searched through the kitchen but found nothing.  I got so stressed out, that I phoned my friend and told her to pray for mer as I searched for the wallet with all my ID’s in it and money. Did I leave it at the box store where I had just returned from a few hours before. Was it left in my friends’ car.  I returned to the spare bedroom.  Lo and behold as I looked into the  closet, looked up to the shelf, there it was. Safe and sound.  Upon its discovery, there was rejoicing and my mood alert on my smart watch changed to moderate.  Immediately, I called my friend back to let her know that all was ok.

As  I now turn to the WORD  and the scripture mentioned,  to me the lost coin are the lives of those who are lost.  Lost in the darkness of this world. To God each life is of value to God.  In fact He created us  in His own image.  “He looks at you through the eyes of His love and grace and sees you as being worthy of His Son. If you are like that coin, lost in the darkness, the dirt and the disuse of your sin, I invite you to come to the Lord.” (The Sermon Notebook – for preachers and teachers of the Word of God).  Then there is the immense joy in heaven over the one who repents.

I was raised in a Mennonite community for my first 12 years of life.  Even then the Word was instilled into my heart  through my parents value of the WORD  and living it out.  We moved in the late 50’s and found place of worship in the community we called home.  It was here that I the talent or coin was found when salvation was offered.  To day that ‘coin’ is still shining for Jesus.
