Some things I have come to understand

I have come to understand many things in my journey of reading the Bible.I personally love to read the Bible and I have read and re-read many books.Originally ,I was not always reading to understand sometimes I just read cause the stories were interesting. However,in the current age of social media I would scroll past many videos of people giving their understanding of what i already read and I would always be shocked(cause i have never looked at it from that angle). The weird thing though is one person would give a mind blowing revelation of a chapter or verse and again someone else would give a different revelation of the latter .This becomes confusing over time to tell which is the real revelation or are they all real.I realised from them on I had to be careful to read the bible for myself and also according to context. Reading the Bible out of context where people pick only a specific verse ignoring an entire chapter or overlooking what other books in the Bible say about the topic.This has dire effects and has unbelievably caused even lives where people would starve themselves to death just because a verse is taken out of context. Similarly others would only believe in prosperity by holding on to specific verses.God did not make the Bible only for us to pick what we love and to throw away what we despise or to change it to fit what we like.Whether it is being convicted by the teachings of Jesus or even Paul we should accept it all as we accept the promises of God unfailing love.One example I always find fascinating (Jeremiah 29:11-14)God says he has good plans for us however this plans will only be executed if we first seek him with all our hearts.To prove this is the verse that states first seek the kingdom of God and everything else will be added to you. Some people will read (Jeremiah 29:11-12)only hence believe that God will execute this good plans anyway not understanding we first need to yield to his will .For sure it a promise by God but we also have to submit to him.Many will wait on this promise and may never receive it cause they never understood what this verse actually entails.From then on thr context of a verse mattered much to me.
